Day Conference

As we approach the last few months of the project 'Alfred Savin and the Fossil Collectors of Cromer' we've arranged a Day Conference around the topic, to be held on 17th October at the Cliftonville Hotel, Runton Road, Cromer. Our guest speakers include Dr Neil Adams of the Natural History Museum, where a substantial part of Alfred's collection is held, post-graduate research Alfie Bowers on his current work on the Cromer Forest-bed, Dr James Walker of Bradford University on the exploration of Doggerland and Professor Adrian Lister (Natural History Museum) and Dr van Essen (Netherlands) on the elephants and mammoths of the north Norfolk cliffs. Peter Stibbons of the Friends of Cromer Museum will introduce the day and Dr Leanne Melbourne and Jo Jones, Senior Eastern Area Museums Curator for the Norfolk Museums Service will look back over the project and forward to further developments at Cromer Museum.

We'll contact you by email with further details. We'll begin with refreshments at 10am for a 10.30am start, lunch at 1pm and conclude with tea at 4.00pm.

We note that there will be various dietary requirements, and we have asked the hotel to prepare a variety of refreshments accordingly. Those of you who are Cromer based will know that the upstairs ballroom at the Cliftonville Hotel requires access by stairs; please let us know if this will be a limitation for you; we are currently looking to provide a live link to the event.
